GOOD NEWS AND THEN....BAD NEWS!!

Since we were getting down to the wire, our realtor found a couple that would be willing to sell their home. After Jesse, my mom, and I looked over the place...we made an offer. After some negotiations they ACCEPTED!!! Everything else ran very smoothly i.e. the paperwork, the inspection, and more negotiations. That was until the appraisal was done a few weeks ago. We were set to close on November 12, but not now :(
The appraisal came in at almost $20,000 less than what we were going to pay for the house. Since the sellers were not expecting to sell their home...they really were not going to sell for that much less than the original offer. So we are now back to square one...well not really b/c we have decided to stop looking for a home at this time.
These last two years have been SOOOO emotionally draining for me. Trying to buy a home can get VERY stressful! So..Jesse and I are moving into another rental home this weekend :( Of course this place is NOTHING like the home we were going to buy. We are going to save as much money as we can and pay off some debt over the next year or longer. I guess it was just not meant to be for us to own a home in Cleveland...which might be a good thing :)

FRUSTRATION!!

So as all of you know, Jesse and I have been looking for a house to buy for a LONG time now! We have looked at EVERY house in our price range in Cleveland. We have made offers on two homes, and the last one just fell through today. Why can't home owners in Cleveland be more considerate? I hate when people get greedy with their money!! All we are asking for is that you pay for all the closing cost...is that too much to ask? I guess it is, but that is something we are not able to sacrifice right now. We have got to get something soon so we can close by November 30!! If anyone knows of someone trying to sell their house in Cleveland....please let me know!! Hopefully the next time I post, we will be closing on a home:)

MY SURPRISE BIRTHDAY TRIP :)

So for my birthday this year Jesse surprised me with a trip to St. Louis. We went to St. Louis last summer with my nephew, but this time we were able to do some adult things...or have more fun with the same things we did last summer. I am finally able to put up some pictures with this post!!
Well Jesse and I left Thursday (July 23) when I got off work and headed to St. Louis...I was not informed of where we were going until we left that day! On our way through Memphis we were held up in rush hour traffic, so it took us over an hour to get through town and over to Arkansas.

We had reservations for Friday morning at Anheiser Busch to do a Beermaster Tour. This tour was one of the coolest things I have ever done! I would recommend this tour to anyone that visits St. Louis...

Jesse is ready for the tour...hat, safety glasses, and radio...

Finishing tanks

The Fill Line for bottles of Budweiser

These were found on all four corners of the fill complex
After the tour we were able to meet the famous Clydesdales!!!! These horses were so pretty...and SOOO tall! We were also able to meet one of the dalmation dogs they have on site.

For dinner we went to a local Irish Pub..which was really cool! The next day was my BIRTHDAY!! We went to the Zoo, the Planeterium, and to a VERY nice restaurant that evening. After dinner we went for a carriage ride around downtown. We were able to watch the nightly fireworks during the carriage ride back to our hotel! This day was the best birthday EVER!!

WHAT A WONDERFUL 4TH OF JULY!!

If only our vacation was a little longer...

Jesse and I left last Wednesday morning (7-1-09) and headed to Tupelo, MS. We stopped in Batesville for some good ole Crackel Barrel and then on to Tupelo. Jesse's goal for this vacation was to get him a new golf driver. We went to a few places before he found what he wanted at Dicks in Tupelo. If we only knew that we would have to go back to Dicks the next day also. Well we did some shopping around and then went out to eat with some friends at Firepark Grill. Both of us have never been...it was really good!! After dinner we all went to see Hangover...which was SOOO funny! So back to why we had to return to Dicks....Thursday morning Jesse went outside to hit his new driver and the shaft broke. We went back to Dicks as soon as we could to exchange the driver for another one. The salesman said that he has never seen a club shaft break that way....lucky us :)

All day Thursday we spent time with Jesse's family. His sister and family came down from NC, so we wanted to spend as much time with them as we could. It was so great to see all of them. I cannot wait till Christmas when we see them again. Jesse and I need to plan a trip to NC so we can visit with them and head up to Washington, D.C. and do some site seeing!!

Friday morning Jesse and I woke up early and headed to Memphis. We went to Bryants for breakfast....this place was SOOO good...and then we went to Putt Putt Golf & Games. Jesse wanted to hit his new driver and I wanted to play some games. We collected about 400 tickets this day, but wanted to save them b/c we knew we were coming back on Saturday with my parents. We ate dinner at Milanos NY Pizza in Southaven and then went swimming at the hotel.

Saturday morning my parents came to Memphis and we went to eat lunch at Macaroni Grill. Then went to play some Putt Putt. Of course my dad won the game...oh well...it was fun! Afterward we went and played more games and won LOTS of tickets. We won over 1600 tickets, so we got some games and toys for Aden and Tate. After resting for a little while at the hotel...we headed to the Memphis Redbirds game(Jesse and I have made it a tradition to go every year). We had the best seats we have ever had since going to the games. I will never sit on the bottom level again!! The Redbirds finally won after playing extra innings and then we watched the great fireworks show. We were so happy to get back to the hotel late that night!!

Sunday we woke up and went to eat lunch at Leonards in Memphis. Their buffet is SOOO good. Afterward we did some shopping and then headed home. We stopped in Tunica and ate at the Blue & White Restaurant. Jesse had to be at work Sunday night, so he took about an hour nap in the car and then had to work till 7am Monday morning. I don't know how he was able to get through that LONG night!

Well that was our Summer vacation. I hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th holiday this year. Jesse is surprising me for my birthday and taking me somewhere. I hope these next few weeks fly by so we can go on another vacation!!

MOVING ON UP!!!

Well today I found out that I am getting a promotion!!!!:)!!!!!!
So for those of you that do not know...I am now a Microbiologist/Quality Lab Associate at Baxter. I have been working here for 3 yrs & 2 months now. My new title will be Quality Associate/Supervisor. I will actually have someone working under me now...which is kinda scary!! I will be in charge of his time card, vacation days, sick days, etc...
My main duties will be over the quality aspects of sterilization. I will be the study director for various protocols, fractionals, qualifications, and steam studies for all the sterilizers. It is very hard to explain, but I can tell you that I will be pretty stressed out these next few weeks, or even months. The person that had this job previously is leaving next Friday, so I have to absorb as much info as I can in the next week & 1/2....fun fun!! along with finishing up projects in the lab and training everyone of my current duties. What an experience this will be...:)

On a side note...the seller called and said that he would be willing to negotiate. I am very shocked b/c we gave him some crazy requirements in the new counter...and he actually accepted them. We might be getting this house afterall!!

ANOTHER HOUSE UPDATE

Okay so the house I told you guys about...the one that we loved but was a little smaller than we hoped...anyways...the next day 2 offers came in for that house. Our realtor asked if we wanted to jump in and put in an offer, but we decided to just let this house go. I did not want to get in a bidding war for our first home!! I was kind of upset about having to let this house go, but I knew that there would be something else out there for us soon!! Well a few days later, my realtor let me know that none of the offers were accepted and that the seller did not even counter. So, Friday, June 12, my whole family (Jesse, Jimmy, Edna, Amanda, Alan, Aden, Tate, and myself) went to look at the house. We put an offer in on the house immediately and required the seller to contact us before 5pm Friday night. When we finally heard back from them (of course they waited till 5:00pm!!) the seller didn't budge any on the price. Actually they went down $500, but wanted us to give $500 more of earnest money...so really it was the same! We decided to let this one go again...we didn't want to mess with this crazy person anymore. So....Monday my realtor contacted me and said that the seller had another counter offer for us. THIS ONE WAS WORSE!! This crazy guy just re-worded everything to make it sound better for us...but guess what...WE ARE NOT DUMB!!! I finally just sent my realtor an email with our FINAL offer and we are still waiting to hear back from her. This trying to buy a house thing is getting insane!!

Update on Houses!!

Something scary happened two days ago.....
As usual my family (minus Jesse b/c he works 7pm-3am) went to watch Aden play ball. Well he hit the ball out to left field..almost to the fence. When he made it to second base the outfielder threw the ball to third and the third baseman missed the ball. The third base coach told Aden to run. When he slid into third the ball and glove of the other player smashed into Aden's face. I still don't understand how he got past the face guard....anyways. Aden came off the field with blood all over his face...it was so scary!! He had a huge cut on his face and he had a cut on his top gum line. To make long story short...me, Amanda, mom, and dad took him to the ER that night. The nurse was able to use glue for the cut on his face and she said that he needed to see a dentist about his tooth. Apparently one of his baby teeth moved over a tremendous amount during the collision. She said that the dentist might want to pull the tooth so that the next tooth would not come in wrong. His face is so swollen now...it is so sad!! He had stitches on his chin a few months ago...so it has been a rough year for him so far!

Well Jesse and I have seen about 10 houses now!! We saw one yesterday that we both REALLY loved. It is a little smaller than we hoped, but it has everything on our list. And since it is one of the cheaper houses on the block...we could make improvements over the years and actually get our money back! We also have another house on the list that we both like...but the kitchen is SOOOO small. I am not sure if I will be able to sacrifice the size of my kitchen. That has been the problem with our rental homes...the kitchen is always SOO small. Also this house is about $30,000 more than the one on the top of our list. Since it is so much more...we wouldn't get our money back on any improvements we make. I am just so ready to have a place of our own! We both wanted to wait a few months before jumping into anything, but four people have already seen the one we want...so we might have to move quickly. It has only been on the market since last friday!! I know that if we are suppose to get this house...everything will fall into place. It just gets a little stressful sometimes!

Well Jesse's sister and family are coming at the end of June for a couple of weeks. I am so excited to see them again! We haven't seen them since around Christmas time. We are planning to go over to Tupelo on July 2nd and then Jesse and I are going to stay in Memphis for a few days with my parents and see the Redbirds on July 4th. We have kind of made it a tradition to go there each July 4th...it is fun!!

The Salley family reunion is this weekend...so I will update you guys later.
